Let’s face it. Watching a beautiful woman, who is wellversed in sports lore, passionately display her knowledge in a husky voice from the testosterone- ridden sideline is a hugely addictive viewing experience.

And they don’t come much hotter than Sara Carbonero, the Spanish bombshell who monitors the action on the soccer pitch for Spanish television channel Telecinco.

Carbonero, better known as Spanish football captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas’ girlfriend, was voted the sexiest sports reporter in a recent FHM poll - a not altogether easy decision given the caliber (and curves) of her competition.

The 25- year- old Spanish beauty sits pretty at the top after beating out elegant American sport reporter Erin Andrews, the lovely Melissa Theuriau - who was widely considered the favourite to win, gorgeous British sportscaster Georgie Thompson and Ines Sainz, an hourglass- figured former Miss Spain.

After the Spanish football team lost to Switzerland thanks to a howler by Casillas, Carbonero was vilified in the Spanish media for supposedly being a distraction to Casil las during the game - this belied the fact that she maintained her journalistic impassivity by roundly berating Casillas.

The accusations were not without merit - it would take incredible focus to draw one’s eyes from her luscious lips, piercing olive- green eyes, flowing brown hair and the tight denims she saunters around the sidelines in.

Her standing with the rest of the Spanish fanbase soon improved and came to a head on Sunday night with the passionate (albeit prolonged) kiss from an emotional Casillas as Spain won the World Cup for the first time.

The kiss from a bona fide Spanish hero will only increase Carbonero’s appeal — and justify the sultry Spanish siren’s selection as the sexiest sportscaster around.
