It is Chief Minister Karunanidhi’s dream project and to make sure the historic event draws enough audiences, schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu have been closed today. There is a special casual leave for government employees and the entire state machinery is camping in the textile city.

As the first world Tamil conference, after the language was granted a classical status, commences in Coimbatore on Wednesday, the venue has turned into a spectacle.

A whopping three hundred and eighty crore rupees have been pumped in and the event brings together around four thousand Tamil scholars and over a lakh visitors from the Tamil diaspora around the world.

While Coimbatore will be in the grip of the world Tamil conference fever over the next few days, political commentators will watch every word of Karunanidhi whether he speaks about his retirement plans as announced last year.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Kalaignar M Karunanidhi released the Logo and website for World Classical Tamil Conference 2010.

This is not tamil makkal dream project, only CM's dream. Why should I waste my time ??

What is that I/We are going to get out of this ? Today more than money, time & resource .. All are wasted to no reason ....

Hello everyone,

Tamil manadu sandosham thaan. Total 380 crores apprxspendt for this project.

Economical value added benefits:

coimbatore city has been well developped & equipped with infrastructure by spending around 150 crores. Healthy investment is done in coimbatore.

Seasonal employment- labours are used to decorate, create stages, roads, power, electricity.

Artists- Old Folk dancers and otherartists are the real gainers.

Artrisans- who help this MANADU by creating images/ potraits depictions.(eg: display of Paari, BEgan)


I also dnt know, where the rest resources will be deployed?

This is DMKs pure political party. I think he is giving a sendoff party for himself. This is going to be a worlds greatest sendoff party by spending crores together. He is sure for his next birth he is surely going to hell. thats why he is enjoying to the maximum core in this birth. What hes done to coiombatore. The main road corner alone was decorated with tiles. They digged the road of UGS and didnt put the road and its not been closed. Only in that Avinashi road its designed. Lots of money is wasted in the tile laying. ITs not layed properly. It will just stand for 1 more month. Thats it.

a lot more can be done with the funds generated,manpower, efficiency of the tamil people and also our state needs it now. spending somuch amount on only one project is not going to fetch any benefit to tamil or tamil people. the government should think more on improving people and not only their family

This is purely selfish working. It would be appreciated if they have spent these crores for uplifting of poors and uneducated. There are lots of people in platforms and in road sides. They would have built 1000s of houses for them and made them self employed by teaching some jobs. Semozhimanaadu is totally waste.

Allow him to know minimum 5 lang other than along with tamil let him go world wider and live....

Changing the Tamil month starting dates ....
these wont develop tamil... all the above things will make the personality to get placed in History that (So and so did so and so work...)

I won t agree with all those criticized the Manadu. Whther it is done by DMK or any other party as a true Tamilian we should whole heartedly welcomed this. This is mail weakness for Tamils , same tamils are against each other.
Everything should be done only by expenses. But we must see the welfare of the language and traditions be safe guarded.So better to stop this blame war and protect our language. There is no political symptom anywhere. As u said the family politics is existing in all over the world . We can t stop that. Ok.
