Jagannath Puri 133rd rath yatra in on its way as we speak and devotional scenes there would be the main attraction as Raths with deities of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra will be pulled to the nearby Gundicha Temple by thousand of devotees.

Rath Yatra to start from Suhrawardy Avenue and wind through CIT Road, SN Banerjee Road, Dorina crossing, RR Avenue, Kingsway from 1pm onwards. The huge, colourfully decorated chariots, are drawn by hundreds and thousands of devotees on the bada danda, the grand avenue to the Gundicha (King Indradyumna’s Queen) temple, some two miles away to the North.

The chariot of Lord Jagannath, known as ‘Nandighose’, is 23 cubits high and has 18 wheels. The chariot of Balabhadra, which is 22 cubits in height and has 16 wheels, is named ‘Taladwaja’. ‘Devadalan’ the chariot of Subhadra, is 21 cubits in height and has 14 wheels.

There would be thousands of devotees seeking blessings in Puri Car Festival 2010 of Lord Jagannath, if you are going to be there expect a completely jam packed city today.
