Firefox Wins Big beating Microsoft Internet Explorer

The bad news keeps coming in for Microsoft.

Mozilla’s Firefox web browser has been chosen as the default for all internal purposes at IBM. The opensource Firefox, already a favourite with those who would like to do multiple things with their web browser with third- party apps, will now service close to half a million workers around the world.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has been trying to regain lost ground for the last three years or so, but without any luck. As a result, IE’s marketshare has dropped from close to 80 per cent in 2007 to less than 55 per cent now, and is expected to fall even further despite the progress it has made with IE 8.

At the same time, Apple’s Safari and the Opera browser have been taking great strides. Time for Microsoft to roll up its innovation sleeves then!
