A Pirated copy of the upcoming Bollywood film, Mr Singh Mrs Mehta, which has created waves thanks to the nude scenes of its heroine Aruna Shields, has found its way onto YouTube.com.

The entire film, scheduled to release on June 25, was uploaded in 16 parts on the video-sharing website at the time of going to press. “For an independent filmmaker like me, this sort of piracy is a huge curse,” says debutant director Pravesh Bhardwaj.

“Since we submitted our movie at several film festivals, the print could have been leaked. We’ve already lodged a complaint with YouTube.”

Bhardwaj’s movie features Aruna, who recently made her debut in the Vivek Oberoi dud Prince, along with Prashant Narayanan, best known for his gangster’s role in Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2. “My ambition was to show my movie on the big screen,” jokes Bhardwaj. In the pirated version uploaded on YouTube, Aruna goes all out with skin show and multiple kissing sequences among several bold shots.

“Aruna is from London. Since skin show is an integral part of acting in the West, she was not too bothered about the nude sequences,” says Bhardwaj. “Also, she understood that the nude scene was a vital part of the film.” Before Aruna, 60 actresses had refused the film because of the nude scene.

In the film, Aruna plays Neera, a columnist who finds out that her husband is cheating on her.

Then, she develops a bond with Ashwin (Prashant), a painter, whose wife is also having an affair. They find comfort in each other’s company. The nude scene comes when Neera poses in the buff to become Ashwin’s muse for his new art work. The experience becomes a turning point in her life.

“Aruna portrays a sensitive woman,” says Bhardwaj. “ And the nude scene is an output of the give- and- take nature of their relationships. In fact, Aruna has carried off the shot in an extremely aesthetic manner.” Interestingly, Bhardwaj had received extreme reactions from several actresses whom he earlier approached. One actress reportedly threw the script at his face and walked out while another called him a “ loser” for writing “ this film kind of film”. The censors have passed Mr Singh Mrs Mehta with an ‘ adults- only’ certificate. “I am fine with an ‘ A’ certificate. The story is an adult idea,” says Bhardwaj.

Coming back to Aruna, she recently hit headlines for her kissing sequence and bikini shots in Prince . Apart from Aruna’s nude scene, Bhardwaj’s film is making news because it will mark sitar maestro Shujaat Khan’s Bollywood debut as a composer. Bharadwaj says he roped in Khan because he wanted the wistfulness of the music of the 80s. The soundtrack has five ghazals.
