Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2010) counseling under the sports quota started at Anna University on Monday. There are just 79 self-financing engineering colleges holding valid approvals from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Madras high court has reserved its orders on a batch of writ petitions from self-financing engineering colleges and their associations, questioning the validity of the AICTE’s revised approval norms.

Along with these 79 colleges, 16 institutions including the Anna University and its constituent colleges were declared safe.

Counselling for Sports Quota - 28.06.2010
Counselling for Vocational Candidates - 29.06.2010 to 03.07.2010
Counselling for Differently Abled Persons - 04.07.2010
Counselling for Academic Candidates - 05.07.2010

According to the latest development, AICTE should take only a short notice to complete the process, as only new colleges require fresh approval. Existing colleges need approval only for new courses or increase in student intake.

guys be very careful as it seems AICTE has got up after many many years and taking care of approvals of private colleges this year.
