Russell Crowe New Movie Robin Hood creating waves at Cannes 2010

RussRussel_Crowe_RobinHoodell Crowe fancies “ having a go” at a Bollywood movie. The Oscarwinning actor is serious about acting in an out- an- out Bollywood masala flick.

Crowe has reportedly been chatting to a couple of Indian financiers.

The actor said that he had always wanted to make a film in India.

“ I don’t mean a typical Hollywood film that happens to be set in India, but a Bollywood film,” he said.

“ The script would have to be right, and I’d have to understand completely what I was doing. But I fancy having a go,” Crowe said.

And if the Australian actor gets his wish, the Indian audience could also see him shaking leg and sing a song. “ I can do my own singing and I can dance a little bit,” he added.

Crowe has long been lead singer and guitarist for his band, 30 odd Foot of Grunts . And earlier on in his career he trod the boards in Australia in a musical or two, including The Rocky Horror show.

Crowe insisted he was serious about the idea, but was willing to wait for a decent script. “ I’m in no hurry. If something comes my way, fine; if it doesn’t, so be it,” he said.

The actor was at the opening gala for Ridley Scott’s entertaining Robin Hood epic, which has some resonance to today’s politically divided Britain, plus some cool action sequences and archery shots.

Archery aside, Crowe may have the singing and dancing skills to go Bollywood, but what about the lingo? Asked if he spoke any Hindi, he replied: “ No, mate.” Speaking of language skills, actresses Kristin Scott Thomas and Cate Blanchett opened the Cannes Film Festival in fluent French. But Crowe opened the proceedings in English, complete with a broad New South Wales twang.

The actor follows Robin Hood with a feature he made with Paul Haggis called The Next Three Days based on the French thriller Anything For Her ( which starred Diane Kruger and Vincent Lindon), it’s about a husband who helps his wife when she’s accused of murder.
