State Employees Dearness Allowance (DA) raised by 8 percent

State Government on Monday in Lucknow announced the 8 percent raise in the dearness allowance for the state employees with in effect from 1st January, 2010. There are around 16 lakh employees who would get happier with this news which means that DA would now stand at 35% of the basic pay.

This major decisions would cover the employees from every field be it aided teaching, teachers of technical institutions, teaching staff, municipal bodies and employees of state government offices. This will bring an additional burden of Rs 1,635.5 crore on the state exchequer.

Please note that the arrears on account of this will be transferred to GPF of employees from January to July, its effective load will be payable along with the monthly salary from August onwards.

DA is paid to the state employees twice a year i.e. January and July. It is the similar process which central government follows and state government also raises the DA as per the hike provided by central government.

This is surely a good news for as many as 16 lakh people.
