Delhi Temperature Continue to Rise as Hottest Day Experienced in 4 Years

Delhi TempratureThere appears to be no respite from the heat for the residents of the national Capital as the mercury continued to soar on Thursday.

A smattering of rain and storms last week did little to bring down the mercury as residents of Delhi experienced the season’s hottest day on Thursday.

The mercury shot up to 44.4 degree Celsius, breaking a four- year record for the month of May.

The city had recorded a high of 43.7 degrees Celsius on April 24, but since then the mercury had been mostly showing a downward trend.

The weatherman has predicted duststorms or thunderstorms in some areas of the Capital on Friday but the temperatures are expected to go up further. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.9 degrees, a Met official said.

The maximum humidity level was 53 per cent while the minimum went down to as low as 13 per cent as hot dry winds swept the city adding to the woes of the people.

The last time the temperature zipped past the 44- degree mark in May was in 2006. That year, May 7 recorded a high of 44.5 degrees.

The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky for Friday with temperatures likely to oscillate between 28 and 45 degrees.
